Some 10-15 years ago a political party activist who was hanging up election posters was shot at. I don’t remember whether the elections were municipal or national. The shooting took place in my neighborhood, at a municipal bulletin board.
I read about it in the paper. I didn’t hear the shooting.
The whole neighborhood knew the shooter was probably a member of a local criminal family. The incident was in the Neveh Yisrael neighborhood in Herzliya which for many years was known as “a neighborhood of criminals”. What strikes me powerfully looking back is how distanced and protected I felt from this incident. How strongly I felt that they didn’t really have anything to do with me or pose any kind of threat to me.
